Furniture Jam is now available on itch.io

We’re thrilled to announce the release of Furniture Jam on itch.io! This game is a fresh take on the classic puzzle mechanics of Rush Hour, reimagined with a quirky twist. In Furniture Jam, your mission is to help a mobile phone, running low on battery, navigate through a room cluttered with furniture to reach the charger cable waiting at the exit. Each level is a new puzzle, presenting a uniquely arranged room full of couches, tables, and other furniture that must be strategically moved to clear a path for the phone. We’ve designed Furniture Jam to challenge your problem-solving skills while offering a fun and engaging experience on both web and mobile devices.

One of the key inspirations behind Furniture Jam was the simple yet addictive gameplay of Rush Hour, a classic puzzle game where players must navigate a car through traffic. We wanted to capture that essence of strategic thinking and translate it into a more modern and relatable setting. Instead of cars, you’re dealing with household furniture—and instead of traffic jams, you’re facing the challenge of guiding a phone in a race against time to reach its charger. The theme is lighthearted but the puzzles themselves are no joke; every piece of furniture you move can either bring you closer to victory or make things more complicated!

Developing the game’s controls was crucial to creating an intuitive experience, especially since we wanted Furniture Jam to be accessible on multiple platforms. Players can simply swipe or tap to move furniture blocks horizontally or vertically, but each block is constrained to move only in the direction it faces, which makes planning ahead critical. We spent a lot of time fine-tuning the touch and swipe mechanics to ensure that each movement felt smooth and responsive. Our aim was to strike a balance between simplicity and depth, making sure players could focus on the puzzle-solving aspect without being frustrated by the controls.

The game’s difficulty ramps up gradually, offering an approachable start before introducing more complex arrangements of furniture. We wanted players to feel a sense of accomplishment as they progress, while also keeping them on their toes with new challenges in each level. As you advance, you’ll encounter tighter spaces, trickier furniture configurations, and layouts that demand extra foresight. Testing these levels was a collaborative process, with feedback from early players helping us adjust the pacing and ensure a satisfying challenge throughout the game.

We hope Furniture Jam offers puzzle enthusiasts a fresh and entertaining challenge. It’s been a rewarding journey bringing this game to life, and we can’t wait to see how players tackle the puzzles. Whether you’re a fan of classic logic puzzles or just looking for a new game to unwind with, Furniture Jam has something for everyone. Check it out now on itch.io, and let us know what you think—we’re excited to hear your feedback and see how quickly you can guide the phone to its much-needed charge! Happy solving!
